MapFan DB Road Map Database

Road network(Minor road extended version)

The Road Network (Narrow Street Extension Version) is road data that has been enhanced by adding narrow roads less than 3 meters in width that are not included in standard road network data, unpaved roads, access roads to private residences, farm roads, forest roads, and pedestrian paths.
It is provided in an extended format different from the standard version and enables route search and area analysis that include residential streets and terminal roads. It significantly improves destination guidance accuracy right up to the final approach, as well as the display density of road networks on maps in residential areas, suburbs, and mountainous regions nationwide.
It is also effective as a GIS analysis platform for logistics, infrastructure inspection, and field operations support, enabling last-mile route representation that closely reflects real-world conditions, as well as for urban planning and disaster response simulations.

Covering the entire country, including even the "narrow roads" not shown on standard maps.

  • This data supplements standard road data by providing nationwide coverage of narrow roads (such as farm roads and private roads) with a width of less than 3 meters.
  • We provide it in a proprietary format that differs from the standard version, with extended link and node information.
With 12 updates a year, we ensure that changes in the road network are not missed

Expected usage

  • This can be used in car navigation systems to improve the quality of route guidance around the destination.

  • This can be used to improve the accuracy of last-mile guidance in residential areas and rural areas when optimizing logistics routes.

  • This service can be used to support field personnel in accessing locations for infrastructure operations such as electricity, telecommunications, and water supply.

  • In map applications, rendering even small streets provides a more natural and seamless map representation.

  • This is useful for considering evacuation routes and rescue routes in disaster simulations.

FAQ

What are the differences from standard road network data?

This data includes narrow roads less than 3 meters wide, unpaved roads, farm roads, forest roads, and private roads that are not covered by standard road network data. It is designed as expansion data to significantly improve map rendering accuracy and last-mile guidance quality.

To which regions of the country do you provide service?

It covers all 47 prefectures of Japan, from urban residential roads to unpaved roads in suburban, mountainous, and rural areas.
The system is comprehensive and covers all areas without regional differences. It includes even the smallest roads that are often missed in general navigation data.

In what format will this data be provided?

The narrow street expansion version is provided in a different expansion format than the standard road network.
This includes road links, road nodes, and segmentation information. It can be provided in PostGIS or Shapefile format.

How often are updates done?

Similar to the standard version, we conduct regular updates 12 times a year. We have a system in place to always maintain the latest road information.

What kind of tasks is this data suitable for?

Delivery and logistics route design, infrastructure maintenance, inspection and visit work in residential areas, map application rendering completion,
It can be used for any task that requires precise route guidance and visualization around a destination.
