MapFan ASEAN DB

MapFan now covers Southeast Asia. IPC’s ASEAN maps suppport a wide range of services, from car navigation systems to disaster prevention systems in Southeast Asia.

MapFan Map DB is now available in 10 Southeast Asian countries. In January 2015, Increment P Asia was established in Bangkok to facilitate the creation of maps for this region of the world. IPC is developing highly detailed map data that covers all 10 ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member countries.

Usage Scenarios

IPC’s ASEAN data can be used in a variety of software infrastructures.
It has been adopted as an economic geography simulation model (IDE - GSM) * of the Institute of Developing Economies of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). (December 2017)

Names, addresses and latitude/longitude information are stored for each facility in large shopping malls and famous sightseeing spots.
Multiple guidance points have been developed for parking entrances, with corresponding attributes. Guidance has been enabled to correspond with usages.

Increment P ASIA was established in Bangkok, Thailand in January 2015 to develop digital map data for Southeast Asian countries.

* The economic geographical simulation model (IDE-GSM), was developed by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). It is used to analyze the effects of transportation infrastructure construction, as well as economic cooperation and free trade agreements (based on spatial economics), and are used for making proposals to Japanese government bodies and other national governments. On June 8, 2017, a memorandum of research cooperation was signed with a Thai government body as a policymaking material regarding the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development plan that the Kingdom of Thailand is promoting. From now on, the estimation/analysis of economic ripple effects will be conducted using the economic geographical simulation model.
